Home Church Resource:
Prepare the Way

Part 4: June 7 (Holiness, Galatians 5:16-24)

Eat Together (30 min)
We will resume this devotion in-person when we are permitted to gather again.
For more connection you may want to schedule a virtual game night or meal with your Home Church for a different day or time in the week.

Worship & Prayer (20 min)
Follow this LINK for this weeks Worship Resource that also has practical instructions on how to worship together on Zoom.
YouTube Playlist

We are going to pause for 2 minutes to consider how we will give this week. For those that call Navah home, this is a time for you to give right now or review your giving to all God does in and through Navah. During this time, also listen and ask the Spirit if there is a need/a person He wants you to bless. Let’s wait in silence for 2 minutes now. Give Online.

Kids (time varies)
Each home church will do this differently depending on the number and age of the children participating. Feel free to place this during anytime of the gathering and schedule the time you need. Follow this LINK for the Navah Kids Resources.

Care (20 min)
- Hi/Lo or Good News Stories
- Invite each person to share a brief Hi/Lo (gratitude and prayer need)
- Consider having the next person who shares pray a short blessing over the previous person who shared.

Message from Adam Cox - Galatians 5:16-24 (20 min)
Prepare The Way: Holiness -  Adam Cox, June 7, 2020
- Read the passage Galatians 5:16-24
- Brief discussion of the message & passage - “What was God revealing to you as you listened?”

Prayerful Response

  • Praise: Take some time, as a home church, to acknowledge the Holiness of God. Consider what Adam Cox said, that God is  “...Incomparably wonderful & beautiful, utterly Unique. Distinguished, Completely Pure…”.
  • Confession: Take a few moments in silence and ask the Holy Spirit ”Which of the areas of self-centeredness are you wanting to reveal and heal in me?” (Self-Provide, Self-Promote, Self-Protect, Self-Destruct)
    • Invite each person to share back briefly on what the Spirit spoke to them. Then, ask one person to pray for the person who just shared.
    • The person who just prayed can be the person to share next.
  • Consideration: Read Galatians 5:22-23 out loud. Take a few moments in silence, asking the Holy Spirit “Is there one of these ‘fruits’ you are wanting me to focus on in this season?”
    • Invite each person to share back briefly on what the Spirit spoke to them. Then, ask one person to pray for the person who just shared.
    • The person who just prayed can be the next person to share next.
  • Meditation: We want to finish this day celebrating the wonder of God, in all of His holiness. Our God is above and beyond all things. He is beautiful in His holiness. Spend the last few minutes thanking Him for His love and His faithfulness in bringing holiness to bear in and through us, His beloved children! Here is a possible prayer response below:

Lord, we see that you are wholly other than, beyond compare, and unlike anything we could possibly imagine. Father, You are holy; pure, superior in excellence and elegance. Jesus, You are the purest expression of a Holy God in human form. You are our hope and our example. Holy Spirit, God in Us, will you continue to produce fruit of righteousness in and through me, revealing the beauty of Holiness to the world around me. Amen.

Communion (10 min)
- Ask each person/household to prepare elements ahead of time; give them a few days heads up if possible.
- Read short passage - 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
- Lead them in receiving the elements
- Consider singing or reciting the doxology together (acapella)
