Prepare the Way
Part 1: May 10 ( 2 Chronicles 7:14)
- Eat Together: (30 min) We will resume this devotion in person when we are permitted to gather again we are asking all Navah Home Churches to stay virtual through May
For more connection you may want to schedule a virtual game night or meal with your Home Church for a different day or time in the week.
- Worship & Prayer: (20 min)
Follow this LINK for this weeks Worship Resource that also has practical instructions on how to worship together on Zoom
We are going to pause for 2 minutes to consider how we will give this week. For those that call Navah home, this is a time for you to give right now or review your giving to all God does in and through Navah. During this time, also listen and ask the Spirit if there is a need/a person He wants you to bless. Let’s wait in silence for 2 minutes now

Each home church will do this differently depending on the number and age of the children participating, feel free to place this during anytime of the gathering and schedule the time you need

- Message from Adam Cox: 2 Chronicles 7:11-14 (20 min)
* Watch the video from Adam Cox together as a Home Church
Read the passage 2 Chronicles 7:11-14
Brief discussion of the message & passage- “What was God revealing to you as you listened?”
Prayerful Response: “Let’s pray together, expressing where we are choosing to wholeheartedly return to God in affection, humility, repentance and surrender.”
Prayerful Practice (SEE BELOW) in the Prayerful Response section, there is a prayerful response that you can go through as a home church or give to individuals for their own time. This could be a sweet and powerful response to the Lord, as we seek His face, commit to turn from our ways and yield to His, trusting He will heal our land.
- Communion: (10 min)
Ask each person/household to prepare elements ahead of time- give them a few days heads up if possible
Read short passage-1 Corinthians 11:23-26
Lead them in receiving the elements
Consider singing or reciting the doxology together (acapella)
- Prayerful Response from the passage and teaching:
Engaging a Prayer of Humility (Katie Egli)
Over the past two months we’ve all been affected by Covid-19 physically, spiritually and emotionally. Undoubtedly there are ways you’ve been made uncomfortable. Maybe there have been beautiful moments as well. Hopefully there have been. As we seek to engage Jesus in this time we are reminded that He uses every opportunity to conform us into his image. Every trial, every frustration, every grief brings us back to His heart if we allow for it.
During the “shelter in place” orders the Lord has been working inside of you. His Holy Spirit has been actively drawing you to himself whether you’ve been aware of it or not. Can you identify the ways the Lord has been working in you during this lockdown?
Write them down and take a minute to share.
If you struggle to pinpoint something try asking yourself these questions:
Am I healthier in any way than I was 2 months ago? Think physically, spiritually, emotionally, or cognitively. How was the Lord at the heart of that change?
Do I continue to gravitate towards an unhealthy behavior, thinking pattern or paradigm? Have I felt greater conviction or awareness of my brokenness ?
After considering the questions above, ask yourself again, “What has the Lord been wanting to accomplish in me during this time?”
Now pause. Drink deep of the fact that God is after your whole heart! Thank Him for His investment in you, His child. He is committed to your freedom, healing, and well-being.
God is jealous for our affection, our attention, and most of all our hearts. He wants all of us because He knows that He is the best for us. In Him all of our longings are met, all of our fears are dissolved, all of our hope is found.
Ask yourself this:
What have I been longing for during this time (friends, shopping, personal space, routine, travel, touch etc)?
What is at the core of that longing? Consider the following or add your own.
Longing for security
Longing for stability
Longing for control
Longing for intimacy
Longing for comfort
Jesus demonstrated humility every time He looked to the Father for help. Turn to the Father in prayer. Ask for forgiveness for the ways you’ve sought to meet your own longing. Even if the things that you long for are good, our confidence and hope is rooted in eternity, not in things found here on earth. He is the source and the fulfillment of our deepest desire.
Begin to pray in the Spirit and by the Spirit as He leads. In prayer, repentance, and confession, give Him your whole heart again.
